Alexa N. Joyce, Esq. is a life-long resident of Monmouth County. She attended Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and sociology. Alexa subsequently attended Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey where she graduated with her Masters in Social Work. Alexa is a Licensed Social Worker. While at Monmouth University Alexa interned for the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency in West Long Branch, New Jersey and the New Jersey Children’s Alliance in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Alexa earned her Juris Doctorate at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York where she was a Child and Family Advocacy Fellow. During her time at Hofstra, Alexa helped to establish the Hofstra University Center for Children, Families, and the Law. She also served as Managing Editor of Notes and Comments of the Family Court Review. Alexa interned at the New Jersey Public Defender’s Office of the Law Guardian in Asbury Park, New Jersey and Lawyers for Children in Manhattan, New York. Alexa also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Jeffrey A. Goodstein, Supervising Judge of the Nassau County Supreme Court Matrimonial Center. After law school, Alexa completed a clerkship for Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Kathleen A. Sheedy, then Presiding Judge of the Family Part.
In addition to being an active member of the Monmouth County Bar Association and serving as a member of the Young Lawyers Committee, Alexa continues her involvement with the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), an international, interdisciplinary, association of professionals dedicated to the resolution of family conflict. Alexa’s article, “High-Conflict Divorce: A Form of Child Neglect” was published in AFFC’s quarterly journal, Family Court Review.
Alexa enjoys running, going to the beach, and spending time with her family and dog.
